Park Street also is a 25 block corridor where Madison’s renowned health care resources are located. Three nationally recognized hospitals—Meriter, St. Mary’s, and the University of Wisconsin–treat thousands of people every year with the latest in medical knowledge and technology. In addition, several clinics and related agencies, such as Access, Wingra and Dane Co. & Madison Public Health department provide an array of related services for the benefit of South Madison and area residents. A new model, the Alliance for Healthy Madison, is a recently organized collaborative program with the mission of improving health and health care by developing health literacy and expanding dental and mental health services. With the goal of a “one stop shop” healthcare commons model and improved staff training opportunities, residents should realize excellent care and preventative services as well.
